Handoff (noun)

1. The act of giving responsibility for a task to someone else, usually when one person finishes or changes.
2. A system change that moves a call or connection from one network area or device to another without stopping it.
3. A quick pass of an object or responsibility to a teammate, often to keep a play or race going.
