Overrule (verb)

  1. A higher court or judge decides that a lower decision was wrong and replaces it with a new one.
  2. To decide that someone else’s plan or choice should not be followed, and to use your own decision instead.
  3. A rule or law has more power than another, so it controls what must happen.
